Did you watch the first Inside Koenigsegg video series last year? If not, click that link and get yourself educated about what it takes to build the most amazing cars in the world.
The latest iteration – the world’s first ‘megacar’ – is the Koenigsegg One:1, which as you’ll learn in the video is pronounced “one to one”. The premise is one horsepower for every kilogram of weight, making 1360hp (or one megawatt) in total. It’s an outstanding achievement and as you’ll see, they plan on going even further with the production version of the car.
This is the first video of /DRIVE’s second Inside Koenigsegg series. Christian von Koenigsegg presents a quick tour of the car as they’re preparing for it’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
Enjoy.

One main theme running through Christian’s mind is reducing the weight of the car. The solution, could be just 20 minutes down the freeway from my house, in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. There is the home of Chimera Batteries which are used in Lotus cars because they weigh only a couple of kilos.
Over a year ago I spent a day at their small, fastidious production facility with a friend of mine from Toronto who drove down especially to have one installed in his 9-3 Turbo-X. We spent the day watching this little gem being custom made with Lithium cells being encased in the carbon-fiber case. then inserted into the engine compartment of the Saab. The reason for the time was this was the first Saab to have this battery so the time was spent adapting it to be secure due to its compact size. So this became the template for future Saabs. This saved about 20 kilos an left a lot of space because of its compact size. I hope Swade will past this on to Christian as this is for real and has past the brutal winter test that is still continuing as I write from North America.

Actually, Koenigsegg have already looked at batteries. The battery in the Agera (and the One:1, I’d say) is not only lightweight, but also controlled by some very intelligent software.
From their website:
I guess we are both on the same track as the Chimera also has electronic circuitry. Being so small and light one could always take it out of the car for the winter and bring it in the house. The Chimera can be charged in only 10 minutes anyway.
