Zeewolde, The Netherlands, 12 October 2011 – Swedish Automobile N.V. (Swan) and Pang Da Automobile Trade Co., Ltd (Pang Da) have taken notice of media reports questioning the validity of the partnership agreements between Swan, Saab Automobile AB (Saab Automobile) and Pang Da after Saab Automobile entered into voluntary reorganization. Swan, Saab Automobile and Pang Da underline that these reports are based on a misunderstanding.

    1. Maybe the whole process is taking too long? Saab should be more open about what they are doing. Where is the 70 milion for instance???

        They cannot and will not tell all. It’s a company with stock on the sharemarket.

        1. I totally understand. But it’s terrible voor people that own shares in the company. Lots of people sold their shares at a loss of thousands of euros to see te price rise again. Communication is everything!

          1. What people do with their shares is not the main issue imho.
            Unfortunately Saab is fighting for survival (again).
            Let’s wait and see how that struggle goes.

            That’s what the “Keep calm and Carry on” mantra is for ūüėČ
            And they are working their ass off to get it done.

      2. Fully agree! The key question remains, when can production start again? Or what are the plans concerning this. 

        1. The most wise answer I have heard is that production will not start in 2011. Maybe early 2012. If NDRC approves Saab has a chance of survival.

          1. This is a LONG time, and the first time I’ve seen an estimated date given. Can you explain how you (or someone else?) came to this conclusion?

          2. There have been reports in the media that have stated that it would be impossible to restart the whole chain beforte the end of the year. Victor Muller said it would take at least 7 weeks. Knowing Muller he is optimistic and we are allready halfway through october.

    2. You can’t shut down media, David. ¬†Even if I’d like to myself, sometimes.

      The media is good at keeping people honest by reporting on what’s going on. ¬†Unfortunately, we don’t have many mechanisms for keeping the media honest about what they write. ¬†

      The media is a good, essential tool. ¬†Like many other tools, sometimes it’s not used properly.

  1. I can appreciate that, if you are a journalist, you have to write something to fill the paper/website, but they are really going over the top …

  2. We in world, needs SAAB and Mr Muller, I for one are fed up to the back teeth with plain, dull vehicles with no heat or soul, just a company balance sheet.
    At  least SAAB cars offer a different view on car manufacturing by being brave enough to be different.

Question: looking back how this mess could have been avoided…¬† what I don’t understand is why SAAB didn’t launch and produce the sedan and estate version of the new 9-5 in MY11 at the same time instead of the classical approach with one year in between?¬† If the estate is so important to create production volume, why on earth couldn’t they be launched both at the same time a year ago?¬† Doesn’t seem to me that there is such a big impact on production complexity, knowing that nowadays a 9-5 and a 9-3 convertible can be produced on the same line…

  4. Are we really all being sensible, continuing to hang on to our hopes for this once great company? I wonder. 

    Yes, there may be anomalies in media reporting. But we all know what SAAB have been through over the past 10 years, and even the folk that work there must be getting pretty fed up by now. Sadly, I can’t help thinking that the company’s disappearance is now inevitable, and I wonder how they can possibly make it through yet another year at this stage. Even if they do, any future incarnation of the company is likely to be a far cry from anything it’s ever been, or that we could ever hope it to be.As Rob Martin said (below), SAAB cars [were once] vehicles of passion. But that was so long ago and so much has changed, not only within the company but also in the markets and the current global economy. Times are different, and the only thing we can be certain of is that any future the company might cobble together will surely be balance-sheet driven, and probably from within China.

    I’ve lived in hope for years now that we might one day see ‘old SAAB’ back on the map, not least because my old 9-5 Aero HOT Wagon was the best car I’ve ever driven, for its time. But today, I feel that I’ve been banging my head against the wall on this for so long that it’s stopped hurting, and if I don’t come to my senses and move on, I might do myself an injustice.

    There will be life after SAAB, that’s for sure. I just can’t see that there is much hope for SAAB as a company any more. As for what the media might say, it’s unlikely they will make a shod of difference at this stage in the game.

      I’m going through the same emotions right now (like a lot of people, I’m sure).¬† I have ordered a 9-5 Sport-Combi in May and still hoping for it to be delivered.¬† This afternoon, I visited the national distributor’s offices because I’d never seen the MY12 Sport-Combi before and I was anxious to find out if it was worth waiting for and all this commotion.¬† I can honestly say that this car is truely a vehicle of passion.¬† It’s worth waiting for.¬† So I’ll wait…
