The Saab Club of Austria is celebrating its 25th birthday this year! They have invited the Saab Club of Slovakia along for the celebrations and together, they will take in what sounds like a fantastic meet-n-drive event in the region. The event is taking place on September 10th. From Alexander K: We’ll meet at the Marchegg Castle close to the Austrian – Slovakian Border, later cross the border using a small ferry-boat and then have lunch together in the city of Bratislava. At the Saab Owners Club GB annual meet – Part 2

Yesterday we covered some of the older cars at the Saab Owners Club GB annual meetup at Haydock Racecourse. Today, we’re looking at the 1980’s and onwards. The cars of this generation are those that will likely be more familiar to the modern Saab enthusiast and the vehicles on show were just as beautifully maintained and presented as the older cars. The Young’uns Click any photo to enlarge. Let’s kick things off with the (second) youngest vehicle at the show, Mike’s 2010 Saab 9-5 in Glacier Silver. I saw four new Saab 9-5s on the roads that day, and all […]

At the Saab Owners Club GB annual meet – part 1

Last weekend I had the distinct pleasure of attending the annual meetup of the Saab Owners Club of Great Britain. Th event was held at Haydock Park Racecourse at Merseyside and it was great to see so many beautiful Saabs in one place. I’ve been the SOCGB national once before, in 2010. There were a few of the same cars as last year, but it was good to see quite a few different cars as well. The oldies – click the image to enlarge. Most of us in the enthusiast crowd are appreciators of the older Saab fleet and the […]

Events: Flying Saab weekend (Italy)

I’ve added another event to the events calendar. This is one that I won’t be bale to attend myself as I’ll be back in Australia, but it’s one that I definitely wish I could. It’s being hosted by the Saab Club of Italy and the theme is “Flying Saab” The event will be held on September 10th and 11th at the Boscomantico Airport in Verona. Being held at an airport is significant. Not only will there be a large variety of old and new Saabs for attendees to try out, there will also be helicopter, glider and light aircraft flights […]

IntSaab 2011 is fully booked, such is the popularity of the event. For those who are interested in attending an IntSaab meeting in future years, however, here’s a run-down of what will be happening this year…… IntSaab 2011 is being hosted by the Saab […]

Saabosphere – links we liked this week

Welcome to the weekly roundup of Saab links we enjoyed reading this week at Inside Saab. —— A bit of internal follow-up first….. The Lime Yellow Saab 9-3 Convertible Hot-or-Not poll has confirmed that the color, now no longer available on the convertible, to be officially HOT. —— Internal follow-up #2….. An addendum to recent stories about the genesis of the Saab Convertible. This came in from Ed Iawanicki, a former employee of Saab in the USA back when the convertible was launched. ….I had to pick the car up from a photography studio in LA and drive it to […]

Mouthwatering Saab Club meeting in Hong Kong

Back in January 2010 there were a lot of gatherings around the world held in support of Saab as the company was threatened with closure by General Motors. The website that I used to run, Saabs United, was a central gathering point for the exchange of information about those convoys and it was a tremendous success. I remember sitting at home watching the news flood my inbox as each of the convoys was held. You could almost track the movement of the sun by the email titles. I wasn’t surprised to see a huge gathering in Trollhattan, nor representation in […]
